Phone Lines down as Library begins COVID Test Distribution

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is working to restore its phone lines, which are currently down as it begins distributing at-home COVID-19 tests to residents at select branches.

The library has partnered with Mahoning County Public Health to distribute 4,000 rapid at-home COVID tests at the Austintown, Boardman, Campbell, Canfield, Poland, Sebring, Springfield, Struthers and Tri-Lakes branches.

Initially, residents had to call to reserve up to four tests. The library is instead handing them out curbside to residents. No library card is needed to acquire a test.

The Main, Brownlee Woods, East, Michael Kusalaba and Newport branches will not participate in the distribution. However, the library is anticipating its own shipment of tests this week, which will be available at all of its branches.
